COVID-19 Pandemic and Street Crimes in Nigeria: Hindrances to Sustainable Development

Every emergency has its security implications, corona virus 2019 is not an exception. This health with policy implications like lockdown of social and economic activities for national security. One the consequences COVID-19 pandemic street crime. The resulted in crimes theft, snatching bags, phones, jewelleries other valuables, robbery, burglary, fighting assaults battery. These led to loss lives properties. Hence, this paper addresses significant relationship between Nigeria. study applies qualitative quantitative research methods. Data were sourced secondarily through content analysis edited textbooks, peer-reviewed journals credible online resources. Findings showed that measures total economy activities, movement restriction consequential means livelihood instigated crimes. recommends equitable distribution palliatives, effective safety net adequate preparation increased human capacity building. will be useful individuals, governments at all levels, National Centre Disease Control, World Health Organization, non-governmental organizations researchers sciences.
